Partnering for Safer Communities with Higher Information Group
With 16 developments across the County and over 1,700 families served through its public housing and rental assistance programs, resident safety remains a top priority.
A few years ago, the Housing Authority partnered with Higher Information Group (HIG) to install surveillance systems at several of its communities. Today, 496 security cameras are in place at 13 of its 16 developments. These systems have proven to be a strong deterrent to petty crime, such as package theft, and have provided peace of mind for residents, who know that if an incident occurs, it will be investigated promptly and professionally.
The success of the initial project led the Housing Authority to return to HIG more recently to address visibility gaps identified around some of the properties. Working closely with HIG’s security experts, they expanded coverage by installing additional cameras and repositioning existing ones to achieve better overlap and minimize blind spots.
“The install team is always very communicative, letting us know where they’ll be and when,” said Leah Eppinger, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Dauphin. “Working with HIG has been a smooth process from the start. The systems are user-friendly, our team can quickly respond to incidents, and it’s reassuring to know that we have strong coverage to support our communities’ safety and security.”
The Housing Authority also collaborates closely with local law enforcement, and video footage has been useful not just for incidents on their properties but also for supporting investigations in nearby areas, ultimately contributing to a safer environment for the broader community.
As the Housing Authority continues to grow and evolve, its partnership with Higher Information Group remains a trusted part of its safety strategy, helping maintain secure, welcoming spaces where residents can feel at home.
